To leave one of your favorite habits is really a very tough thing. Even, cutting up the quantity is also a difficult thing to do. For Instance, after doing your check up, your doctor has advised you to take little amount of sugar in your tea or cut down the amount of salt in your food. Cutting the amount of either salt or sugar is very tough; you will feel as you are going through a torture. Similarly, if the lessening of amount is tough, then completely quitting up your favorite time pass or habit sounds impossible.

A further benefit of being a non smoker is that you can live a longer life than those individuals that are smokers.  A non smoker can live a life that is without the worries of having to pay for high cigarette rates, discoloration of the nails ( they often turn yellow from years of tobacco abuse), as well as foul breath.  A non smoker can also exercise easier without having to worry about being out of breath.

Clearly, there are many benefits of being a non smoker. Aside from the fact that your overall health will be much better being a non smoker, the most important aspect of being a non smoker is that you can live a healthier, longer life. With the proper education and understanding, one can learn the many benefits of being a non smoker.

The U.S. Surgeon General reported that cigarette smoking is the most significant risk factor for the development of cancer and heart disease. Likewise, cigarette smoking increases your risk of emphysema and chronic lung disease, stroke, osteoarthritis, macular degeneration, hypertension and other conditions as well. There is new data in recent years to indicate that even second hand smoke can have fatal consequences. In general, the average smoker usually dies about seven or eight years before a non-smoker.

Unfortunately, cigarette smoking is extremely addictive and, in many cases, is difficult to eliminate. Often many smokers can be in some level of denial and do not feel that their life will necessarily be shortened by this addiction. There are others that have made the comment that if they die prematurely, so be it. What they don't recognize is that if one develops a stroke or chronic lung disease, one may not die from this but be chronically disabled.

Proper diet and nutrition is extremely important for the chronic smoker. It has been well reported in the medical literature that many smokers have a relative deficiency of vitamin C and with supplementation ascorbic acid levels can be repleted. Antioxidants in general can be extremely beneficial in reducing the incidence of many of the diseases caused by cigarette smoking. In particular there have been studies cited in the literature describing benefits with grape seed extract and flavonoids from green tea.

Each time you puff on a cigarette, you introduce not only nicotine (a drug) into your body, but also hundreds of other toxic chemicals and carcinogens (some that can kill insects on contact, others that are used to embalm dead bodies). You probably know that cigarette smoking is harmful to your health, increasing your risk for heart disease, lung cancer, and stroke, but did you know that cigarette smoking is one of the main killers in the world?
